The restaurant has garnered glowing reviews for its commitment to freshness and quality. Guests rave about the attentive service, describing a family-run atmosphere that makes everyone feel welcome. Each dish is cooked to order, a fact highlighted by patrons like Pauline Bennison, who appreciates the care taken to avoid pre-made sauces, resulting in a dining experience where each bite bursts with flavor.

A standout feature of The Green Apple Tree is its array of mains that perfectly showcase the essence of Indian cooking. Dishes like the Delhi Wala Chicken (£14.95) and the Mutton Handi (£16.95), famed as a house favorite, exemplify the robust yet balanced spices that define true Indian culinary art. Inspired by regional specialties, the menu boasts delightful options such as the Malabar King Prawn Curry (£17.90) and the comforting Dhaba Paneer Masala (£14.95), each crafted to highlight its core ingredients while offering generous portions that ensure satisfaction.

The sides deserve special mention as well. With flavorful offerings like Tadka Dal Roast Garlic (£7.20) and the refreshing Grilled Pineapple Raita (£4.95), each complements the mains beautifully. Diners, including the likes of Caroline Clarke, have expressed delight at the overall experience, noting the exceptional balance of flavors and the thoughtful touches, such as complimentary welcome drinks and delightful surprises like homemade cupcakes on special occasions.

One visitor, Nicola Jackson, highlighted the unique nature of the menu, which, although shorter than traditional Indian establishments, offers an impressive selection without overwhelming guests. The careful curation allows for a dining experience that emphasizes quality over quantity, making it easy for patrons to find something to savor each time they visit.

In a world awash with dining options, The Green Apple Tree Indian Restaurant stands out not only for its delectable food but also for the warmth and attentiveness of its staff. Really delicious, fresh, vibrant dishes. The service was fantastic. The staff are so attentive and helpful. We had a wood pigeon starter which was amazing and then a butter chicken and prawn curry. Everything we ordered was delicious. We went on valentines evening so a welcome drink and homemade cupcake were a very thoughtful surprise. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back.

Excellent all round. Every dish is cooked freshly to order not just pre made sauces with various meat/fish/veg added to. Relax, enjoy the wait & savour the flavours.

A smaller menu but contrasting options. Food was unbelievably tastey and very happy with out experience. Would recommend anyone to try as allergy aware and veggie options. Thank you!

Staying locally for the weekend we booked the restaurant based on the reviews and we were not disappointed ! We were glad we checked out the location in advance though as it’s above some shops and the entrance is slightly hidden away down an alleyway. Not your traditional Indian with a much shorter menu but still plenty of choice. Every dish we had was beautiful, really well spiced and balanced and so many lovely flavours and not a criticism to be made. Portions were generous too, I brought home a decent biriyani takeaway as there was too much to finish. Service was friendly and attentive. Very highly recommended!

Lovely food and pleasant service. Obviously family run and it shows. The Mutton Handi was one of the nicest curries I’ve eaten in a restaurant for a long time and it’s what will drive me back again. Ordered too much despite being told 2 nan breads would be too much for the two of us. Never mind I’ve a tea of left over curry and nan for my tea. I make my own curries at home and this is one of the reasons we don’t eat much Indian food out anymore, however this was better than mine which I’ve tailored to our tastes over the years. I’m going to have to reverse engineer it lol.

A truly amazing experience, the food here was absolutely fantastic. The dishes are so different from any other Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The flavours were just out of this world. The menu is smaller than other restaurants but don't be put off by this, because it maybe small but big in flavours!! With this they can concentrate on making every dish to perfection and seems to work really well. Everything was just brilliant, including the amazing service from Vimal. I'd like to say a big thank you for bringing this to Northallerton, it's just what we needed!

The food was very nice and authentic. The waiter was very nice and explained to us the dishes as there were some dishes that were more traditional that are not your common meals. All very good, I recommend it.
